?Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better. It?s not.?

As a lifelong fan of Dr. Seuss and having read many of his stories during childhood I was giddy and antsy as I waited in line with my girlfriend surrounded by children to see this movie. Though the movie is obviously aiming for a younger audience it?s quite deeper than what appears at first glance. The quote above just about sums up the underlying theme of be the change you want to see, and proves to be a powerful message well taught by the minds behind both the story and movie.

It becomes apparent that there?s material meant for children to see and some specifically the parents will understand. In one musical number a key character sings ?how bad could I be? as he reaps profit from product destroying natural resources and habitats for creatures. How bad could he be when a portion of his profits go to ?charity?? The movie brings up many valid points of industry and business today as it is a shark infested tank full of crooks with their own best interest in mind. It?s never enough for corporate heavyweights as they ?bigger and bigger? themselves, more money more greed.

Credit goes to the creators of the movie, but of course respects are originally due to Seuss as he was a master of rhyme and reason. Behind every incredibly imaginative and colorful story was an equally significant moral. There?s enough ethical teaching in his writing for it to be a moral foundation. He?s a literary and poetic genius of the 20th century.

The movie?s visuals were very pleasing as well, and can be thoroughly enjoyed in 3D. Singing fish and whimsical animals right before your eyes are perfect ingredients for a good family time and children grinning from ear to ear. The people behind?Despicable Me?did a good job on this high definition film of a surreal world as you can see individual hairs on the Lorax?s mustache or the furry texture of the Truffula trees.

Join some of my favorite people as they voice over my one of my favorite stories. This includes Zac Efron as 12 year old protagonist Ted, the object of his affection Audrey done by Taylor Swift, and lovable, adorable Betty White playing rambunctious Grammy Norma. Hear Danny DeVito protest ?I am the Lorax, I speak for the trees.

I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues?, as we learn to remember the value of humanity?s roots and nature in which they reside, and the consequences of our industries? actions.
